According to a spokesman from whichever agency compiles this crap,
"The top 20 really shows how far we have come in terms of saying goodbye. Gone are the dirges of yore, instead we are seeing contemporary music that is easier to relate to."
What bollocks. The dirges of yore may be behind us, but what a relief that we have plenty of contemporary dirges from deadbeats like James Blunt, to provide cheap second hand sentiment as the curtains close on the casket.
Personally, I would prefer Ace of Spades, to give procedings a more lively tempo.

Can you imagine the contempt you must have someone to pick anything from this list?
Oh, and lazy journalism. Pie Jesu? Fine. But "Requiem"? Neither an artist or a composor. I'm guessing this is the rather deadful Lloyd Webber version sung by Charlotte Church, but the Pie Jesu (Pie Iesu Domine, dona eis requiem. Dona eis requiem sempiternam - Sweet Lord Jesus, grant them rest; grant them everlasting rest.")is a pretty standard part of the requiem mass. The Faure setting is probably my favourite, though the Rutter isn't bad. As I get older, the idea of a proper requiem mass with all the trimmings seems more attractive. And a party.
Not that I'll be there to enjoy it, and just as long as the burial is green (Tythe Green in Oxton probably) I promise not to haunt anyone.
